8 GM Brands: 1 Or 2 Too Many?
Numerous of us are speculating about GM’s future. For those who take all the press experiences at heart, you'd assume that General Motors is on life support. Fairly frankly, the other is true especially if you have a look at the worldwide picture. In 2005, “the Normal” bought greater than 9 million vehicles worldwide, the primary time the automaker reached that figure since 1978. Yes, U.S. auto sales are down and a few are calling for GM to cut back its many manufacturers, at the moment numbering 8. Who ought to GM let go? Or, ought to Common Motors follow the game plan and keep all eight manufacturers?
For the file, GM’s 8 brands are: Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, Chevrolet, Saturn, GMC, Hummer, and Saab. You could take Saab out of that pack as the Swedish automaker (though fully owned by GM) builds few vehicles in North America. Still, GM includes Saab in its advertising schema so we’ll maintain them in for argument’s sake.
Clearly, Cadillac is GM’s luxury division; Chevrolet is it’s budget or “All American” division; while GMC is the truck division. Past that, there's much muddling of divisions, but Buick is a maker of “near luxury” automobiles (Cadillac lite) while Hummer is GM’s specialty truck division. The Saab line is a bit confusing because it once was a true European division. Now, the make is chiefly featuring rebadged GM and Subaru autos with little unique models to indicate for it. Finally, Pontiac and Saturn duplicate a lot of what the opposite divisions do, though the Saturn mystique of “no haggle pricing” gives the make a sure aura to it. That leaves Pontiac.
Pontiac, just like the recently killed off Oldsmobile title, is probably one of the vital weak of the true “American” makes. Saturn will survive as a result of its seller community is tops and client satisfaction ranks up there with Lexus.
Ultimately, the Saab identify will seemingly die first. Outdoors of the U.S., notably in Europe, Opel is a recognized identify and an vital GM make. Phrase has it that some of Saab’s production will shift to Germany and sure rebadged Opels will begin to sport the Saab name. Let’s just say once that occurs, there is little motive to continue making Saabs. Let the Saab name die with dignity. Why spoil it by selling rebadged Opels as Saabs?
Personally, I believe GM should leave well enough alone with its remaining American brands. I wasn’t in favor of Oldsmobile’s demise and I'm not in favor of killing off trusted brands. GM is retooling its operation as previous models are killed off and as new or revived fashions step in. Search for the Chevy Camaro, Pontiac Firebird, Saturn Sky, and the Buick Enclave to assist spark their respective divisions to renewed glory. Am I residing a pipe dream? Maybe, however not less than my creativeness is going in a optimistic direction.

which car should i get?
ok well i wrecked my old car and i got back like 12,000 dollars for it
and i want to put a down payment on a new car
and my dad was like he would help me if i needed some more money to put with it
so im choosing between
2011 dodge charger
or maybe a truck
hummer h3
and 2010 chevy camaro
i would say the new charger. The re design looks really nice. It has a new V-6 putting out around 300 horses or the 5.7L hemi putting out 375 horses. Having 4 doors is nice, the extra room and all. I would avoid the H3 gas hog and just not worth it, had a cousin who had an H3 with the inline 5? or V6 i know it wasnt the V-8 in the alpha (top of the line) edition. He said gas mileage sucked in that, you are paying for the name on it. But if you dont really think you need a 4 door car than camaro but i would go with the charger personally.
