Learning Guitar - Which Is Good: Acoustic Or Electric?

The guitar is one of the most versatile musical instruments in the world. The guitar is about four centuries old, but to this day, its exact lineage remains obscure. Several guitar-like instruments have been mentioned in literature with some as old as being depicted in stone. The present form of the guitar was the brainchild of Spanish maker Antonio Torres in 1850. The design greatly improved the tone and volume of the guitar, as well as the ease to which the instrument can be used.

Acoustic and Electric guitars are the instrument's main categories. An acoustic guitar has a hollow body which amplifies the vibrations made by the strings that are either made from steel or nylon. Electric guitars have usually solid bodies and use metal strings, pickups and amplifiers to produce sound. Crossovers of both acoustic and electric guitars have also been made available in recent years.

Intermediate and pro guitarists select guitars according to the type of music they want to play. For example, if you wish to copy Jimi Hendrix music you are closer to achieving your goal if you use a Fender Stratocaster which he used frequently during his career. In the same manner, those who love Johnny Cash's playing style can buy the same Martin D-35 he used frequently during his stage career.

The differing opinions of experts regarding which type is better for novices, makes buying for a beginner a particularly challenging prospect. Some assert that electric guitars are better because learning chords on one is much easier since its strings are much lighter and easier to press down. Others on the other hand recommend acoustic guitars because these don't have as much knobs and buttons to deal with. Either is good, but if budget is a major consideration, acoustic guitars would be the better choice.

Two of the best acoustic guitars in the market are the Yamaha FG700Sand the Taylor GS mini. Yamaha FG700S is a remarkable guitar for beginners because it is reasonably priced and easy on the fingers. The lifetime warranty common to Yamaha products makes it a very good investment. Those who bought Taylor GS mini say that the reason for purchase was simply love at first strum. The reduced scale size makes it easy to handle especially for people with small hands. In the end, the best acoustic guitar will always be the one that can demonstrate your mad skills and articulate your passion.

'Mad Scientist' teaches science in a fun way at Beaches elementary school (Florida Times-Union)

When he opens the refrigerator in his Jacksonville Beach home, Justyn McKay
questions whether the jar of pickles really contains pickles, whether the eggs
are “naked” and the chicken bones have been turned to rubber. And he never
knows what he will find in his wife’s office lab.

You see, he’s married to the “Mad Scientist.”

That’s Holly McKay’s persona at Seabreeze Elementary School. Clad in a lab
coat, an Einstein electric-shock wig, fake glasses and a bow tie, she comes to
school with her bag of props to teach science in a fun way.
