four link suspension for a 89 bronco or stick with leaf springs?
want to go 25 to 35 mph in desert over big woops and washes
Stick with the Stock Suspension!!!!!! the stock suspension is a 3-link design and also happens to be the #1 design copied by Pre-Runner race trucks. The stock front axle design used in the 80-96 Fords works better than leafs or a 4-link setup for high speed desert racing, whoop-de-doo jumping. I have an 86 and regularly drove over 60 MPH over desert terrain. the fact that the front axle is 2 piece allows the axle to react independently on each side BUT the fact that each arm is mounted to the opposite frame rail allows for ALOT of up and down travel to soak up those bumps. the only thing I would look into is aftermarket extended radius arms Long travel shocks and the Superlift steering linkage setup. For what you are wanting you won't find a better setup thatn waht you already have on the vehicle. both the 4-link and leaf springs will require you to switch to a solid front axle. the solid front axle will not react to up and down changes 1/2 as fast as the stock TTB setup does and will completely remove the indepent ability of each side to move up and down as needed.
